Fire

Camp Fire

Sometimes we try things, just to experience them.  We go for it, not taking into account the possible consequences for our choices.
Is it better to experience something and learn from it?  Or...just be safe and say you never had to deal with bad consequences made from hasty decisions?  I think it depends on the person, the circumstance, and also just which fire you are choosing to play with.
True fire does burn, but most burns heal.  They leave behind memories, sometimes even scars that help us remember what happens when you play with fire.
I have not been burned, or scarred just yet.
I am just enjoying the warmth.  Just watching the flames cast shadows over areas of the woods that I can't quite see.
Sometimes it feels like there are others watching me.
Watching me and my small little fire.  Jealous of it's glow.
I'd love to share, but my fire is for me only.  They have to build their own fire, and learn, just like me, how to not get burned.
When you build a fire, it burns brightest when it is first lit.  You have to contain it, or it consumes everything else.  Once contained, you have two options; fuel the fire, or let it die.  I feel like I have been successful in containing, and I am actually letting it slowly die.  I could still add twigs, and coal if I felt like it, but we'll just have to see what the future brings.  For now my hands are warm enough :)

the moment we forgot we were just good friends
i moved my arm her face went red again
one more bus home
another silent weekend
